About Ms. MackoffHello! I am very excited to be your third grade teacher for the upcoming school year. And now for a little bit about me...
I grew up in Harvard, Massachusetts, and went to Northeastern University for college. I was a rower on the women's crew team at Northeastern. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the business world for almost 4 years in Human Resources. I got my master in Elementary Education from Lesley University. Prior to working at Mitchell, I taught at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in the 5th and 1st grades. This is my seventh year teaching 3rd grade at Mitchell and I love it! I am a teacher because I truly enjoy spending time with my students! I love to use hands-on learning and technology in my lessons whenever possible. I also believe that I am not the only teacher in the classroom, because my students teach me too! I can't wait to learn about each of you as students and people. I also believe that mistakes are an important part of the learning process. I love practicing speaking Spanish (I am semi-fluent) so I am very happy you will continue to take Spanish as one of your specials this year. When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time outside and to go on hikes with my family. I also like to do crafty things like baking, woodworking, knitting and making wheel-thrown pottery. You'll also learn I enjoy traveling near and far. My husband Brendan and I live Needham, so you may run into me at the grocery store from time to time! We are the proud parents to our sons Owen (age 5) and Theo (age 2). We also have an adorable golden retriever named Princess Aurora ("Rory" for short) who is 5 1/2. Owen will be starting Kindergarten at Mitchell this year, so that is very special for me! I can't wait to start the school year! Please call or email me if you have any questions! |
