About Ms. Mackoff
Hello! I am very excited to be your third grade teacher for the upcoming school year. And now for a little bit about me...
I grew up in Harvard, Massachusetts, and went to Northeastern University for college. I was a rower on the women's crew team at Northeastern. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the business world for almost 4 years in Human Resources. I got my master in Elementary Education from Lesley University. Prior to working at Mitchell, I taught at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in the 5th and 1st grades. This is my fifth year teaching 3rd grade at Mitchell and I love it!
I am a teacher because I truly enjoy spending time with YOU--my students! I love to use hands-on learning and technology in my lessons whenever possible. I also believe that I am not the only teacher in the classroom, because my students are teachers too! I can't wait to learn about each of you as students and people. I also believe that mistakes are an important part of the learning process. I love practicing speaking Spanish (I am semi-fluent) so I am very happy you will continue to take Spanish as one of your specials this year.
When I'm not teaching, I love to spend time outside and being active, whether it is playing sports, training for races, or going for hikes. I also like to do crafty things like baking, knitting and making wheel-thrown pottery. You'll also learn I enjoy traveling near and far.
My husband Brendan and I bought a house in Needham in 2016, so you may run into me at the grocery store from time to time! We are the proud parents to our son Owen, born June 2016. We also have an adorable golden retriever named Princess Aurora ("Rory" for short).
I can't wait to start the school year! Please call or email me if you have any questions!
